We are excited to bring our Rootz Blog to our wonderful website! There are lots of fun happenings here at Rootz any given day and we are looking forward to sharing our memories, day to day projects, our insight on various ideas, and most importantly some Inspiration to everyone to enjoy who blesses our site!
Here at Rootz of Inspiration, we have lots of fun topics to share with everyone.
We plan to talk about the various parts of our unique retail store that has over 50 local artist’s artwork of all types of mediums like: drawings, epoxy resin, paintings, digital art, pottery, woodworking, coasters, local authors’ books, stickers, dog toys and bandanas, diamond and, tie dye, earrings, pendants, wire wrapped crystals, bracelets, mittens, scarves, home décor, and much much more!
We have a huge selection of all types of houseplants like succulents, tropical, air plants, cacti, and even rare collector plants! Tons of fun pots of all types including Window Wonderz products. We even have a space with various soil types to transplant your brand-new plant into a brand-new pot with the help of one of our local experts here at Rootz. No need to make a mess at home!
We have a wonderful selection of all the different types of crystals, minerals, various metaphysical goodies, collector pieces, smudging items, rings, pendants, Lake Superior Agates, slabs, fossils, and more.
We also have another fun happening that is technically here at Rootz: Window Wonderz! Window Wonderz workshop is in the back of Rootz retail store that creates various handmade acrylic products. We cut, sometimes bend, sometimes put suction cups on, and glue various acrylic products! We have eCommerce sales both on these websites and through Etsy and even eBay – and we ship various handmade acrylic suction cup planters, acrylic display cases, drumstick display cases, cake risers, suction cup shelves, large acrylic planters, and various specialty custom-made to order products… right here in the shop area as well!
That same “Window Wonderz Workshop” is magically transformed into a wonderful workshop space for our “Sudz of Inspiration” handmade soap, shower steamers, and soap bombs. We are currently working on new batches of some really fun plant and crystal-themed “embedded soaps”. We have a beautiful selection of fun colors, incredible aromas, and fun shapes in our various handmade soap, bath bombs, and shower steamers.
We also utilize that magical workshop space to enjoy a process called “Sublimation”. Sublimation is a fancy physics term in which there is a conversion of a substance ( in this case ink ) from the solid phase (as it is on the paper after it’s printed) into the gas phase .. with the help of high heat and high pressure.. with the use of a large heat press! We design the images in Photoshop with fun backdrops and various texts and sayings, use special ink and paper, then “transfer” it to various blanks like magnets, cake pans, glass cutting boards, Christmas ornaments, etc.

Last but not least, we like to share our true mission here at Rootz of Inspiration: “The arts, plants, (crystals now), and parties for a cause store” which is all about supporting people with disabilities and those in chemical dependency / mental health recovery. Jeremy Westrum the Owner and Founder of Rootz of Inspiration and Window Wonderz struggled with chemical dependency and mental health issues related to Bipolar Disorder and drug and alcohol use for most of his entire adult life. In January of 2016 Jeremy suffered a massive stroke which left him unable to speak with minimal comprehension and energy for nearly a year. Adding that onto the demons he had dealt with for most of his life it was a rough blow to survive from. After the stroke it was about 6 months of complete hell until Jeremy was able to hit his rock bottom. At that time he finally started sober up and finally started truly working on his demons – in addition to recovering from the strokes physical issues.
6 months after sobering up and working on his stroke recovery, Window Wonderz was born February of 2017. 3 years after that Rootz was born – opening Rootz doors in April, 2020 right when the COVID pandemics started. That was not part of the business plan that was set in motion almost 2 years previous.. but somehow we survived!
To date, which as this is written – December 2nd, 2022 – Rootz and Window Wonderz have employed 6 people with various wonderful “abilities” as I like to call it – epilepsy, autism, fresh out of sobriety and struggling with mental health issues, and everything between! Proud to say some have come and gone over the last two years and have taken what they had learned and gained from Rootz + Window Wonderz experiences and Jeremy’s mentorship through his life experiences and have been doing wonderfully since!
Our employees enjoy the warming atmosphere with the fun goodies that are found around the Rootz, the company of Mr. Wesley our shop dog, the interaction from our friendly customers, interactions from our friends from The Yellow Monkey next door, and gain real-life lessons and friendship from Jeremy’s mentorship and leadership. We are truly blessed here and appreciate you all blessing us with your time after reading the intro to our blog.
